THERE ARE SOME MODS...if yer broke like I am, then these mods can put some zip into any All-Trac. These principles can be applied to just about any turbo car as well.

1. K&N FILTER: while 90-93 All-Trac owners can plunk down appx. $200 for an HKS PowerFlow, we 88-89All-Trac ownersget the shaft when it comes to aftermarket intake upgrades. The most economical upgrade would involve poping a K&N filter into your air box, which costs about $40. If you're feeling adventurous, cut off the bottom panel of the intake box that faces the driver side fender. The intake will be a little louder, but you get more horsepower, and we all know more power=spanking GSX's
                          or....
click here for info on a custom intake you can build at home for appx. 200 dollars, more or less.

2. Manual Boost Upgrade, Turbonetics: $60, last I heard....the sock fuel cutoff is at 12 psi, so I recommend 11 psi, but since the stock boost gauge only goes up to 8psi, I recommend the Blitz Dual Turbo timer. It has an automatoc turbo timer, something you should have if you don;t already, and a boost gauge with peak hold. the DUal Turbo timer is about $120, plus about $15 for the wiring harness. A plain boost gauge with A-Pillar mount should cost about $75.

3. Free Flow Muffler: If you can't do the exhaust, I recommend  a Magnaflow straight through muffler. IF your muffler can stick a 3" on there, go for it, but a 2.5" will suffice. My car know has a deep, throaty exhaust note. This will set you back about $200, more or less. Check the catalytic converters, make sure that they are not clogged., they have a tendency to clog on the older All-Tracs.

4. Other things: I recommend, if you run higher boost than stock, you should look into switvcing to synthetic oil, like Castrol or Mobil. Viscocity really depends on where you live. Here in San Diego, I use 15-50 Mobil 1, but I plan pn changing to Castrol 5-50 if and when the wheather gets cold. Look into getting some Redline Water Wetter to put into the air-to-water intercooler and in the radiator. All-Tracs run hot stock, much hotter as you turn up the boost, so something to aid in cooling is very beneficial....add about $8 for the water wetter, and about $30 for a case of oil...use a Toyota Filter. And if you're turning up the boost, use only Toyota Platinum plugs...they cost about $7 something each from a place here. If they cost too much around where you live, e-mail me and I can get the plugs for you. All other plugs, even the Bosch +4's have a tendency to foul too easily when you turn up the boost. One more thing...if you want slightly more knock resistance, stick a K&N filter element onto the end of the hose, and plug up the connection at the intake piping. No more oil in the intake pipe!!

All in all, the cheapo package will set you back about $350 bucks. It really depends on where you live..The more expensive with custom intake will cost about $500 or so.....yeah....Any questions, you can E-Mail
